As the builder announced on Sunday, he and his partner Simone Reiländer will say yes to each other in a small circle on June 1, 2024. “It is my last marriage,” Lugner emphasized to the APA on Sunday. Cathedral priest Toni Faber takes care of the church blessing following the civil wedding.
Vienna. Lugner had recently been traveling with a variety of companions, all of whom were given different pet names for animals. “But I always aimed for a long-term relationship,” said the builder.
Lugner is already familiar with weddings: he married his first man, Christine Gmeiner, in 1961. “She was my childhood sweetheart,” said the builder. The couple separated following 17 years. In 1979 he married once more. But this connection only lasted four years. “Cornelia (Hahn, note) was taken away from me by the then OPEC Secretary General,” said Lugner.
Marriage number three followed in 1984 with Susanne Dietrich. The relationship ended tragically: in 1984, shortly following the divorce, Dietrich fell into a coma following cosmetic surgery and died. Christina “Mausi” Lugner, probably the builder’s best-known partner, followed. The couple married in 1991 and hit the society stage together for years. But this marriage also ended in 2007.
On September 13, 2014, Lugner married German playmate Cathy Schmitz at a fifth wedding staged as a media spectacle in Vienna’s Schönbrunn Palace. This was over once more following just two years. “That was a flop. Apart from Simone, I only loved Christine and Christina,” said the builder.
