Richard Gere was hospitalized in Mexico with pneumonia.
Sunday, the actor of Pretty Woman ended up in hospital in Nuevo Vallarta following contracting the disease while on vacation with his wife Alejandra Silva and their two sons.
As TMZ reported, he suffered from a “bad cough” before going on vacation. Once in Mexico, he went to the hospital, where he was diagnosed with pneumonia, and doctors kept him overnight. The 73-year-old actor was discharged the next day following responding well to antibiotic treatment.
After the announcement of his illness, his wife was reassuring on Instagram. “I woke up this morning and saw the news and all your kind and (worried) messages. He is recovering, ”she wrote in the caption of her message posted on Sunday.
She continued: “He (feels) a lot better today! The worst is behind him! Thank you all for (your) kind messages, we really appreciate them!”
Her words accompanied a photo of herself, Richard Gere, and one of their children, the actor wearing a face mask.
Last week, Alejandra Silva celebrated her 40th birthday, posting on Instagram: “After almost three weeks of being sick in our family today, I finally feel much better! Thank you for all your love.”
