This Tuesday, after his last participation in the Masters 1000 in Paris, at 38 years old, Richard Gasquet spoke about the future final months of his career. The latter will end after Roland-Garros 2025.
“I prepared thoroughly for Bercy, I will go all the way at Roland-Garros, I will give everything. I will prepare 1000%. Afterwards, if I am in this ranking (133rd in the world), it is because there is a reason, it does not lie. That’s why I’m stopping. The end of a career is never easy. I’m lucky to still be in good shape, to be able to play and claim to win matches. In any case, I try not to get hurt. I hope this will be the case until Roland-Garros. I hope to be able to play well and enjoy it as much as possible,” hoped the Biterrois native.
“I will be 39 next year in Paris, I can hardly do more”
He then explained in detail his plan for the final months of his career. “I’m going to make the qualifiers in Melbourne (Australian Open). Montpellier, a tournament that I won. I would like to play in Marseille one last time, I went there when I was very young, it’s a tournament that is close to my heart too, the qualifiers in Monaco too, and especially Roland-Garros. I will be 39 next year in Paris, I can hardly do more,” he stressed.
