President Andrew Manuel Lopez Obrador sent a strong message to Ricardo Monrealcoordinator of Morena in the Senate of the Republic, for his behaviour of the last few weeks in the Upper House.
In Zacatecas, the state from which Monreal Ávila is from, the Mexican president said that with his position the legislator endorses “the falsehood, hypocrisy and politicking” of the conservatives.

The Senate of the Republic approved in the early hours of Friday the initiative so that the National Guard depends on the Secretary of National Defense.
In general, the Plenary Session of the Senate of the Republic endorsed the project with 71 votes in favor, 51 once morest and one abstention. In particular, it was approved with 69 votes in favor, 50 once morest and two abstentions. However, Monreal Ávila was the only one of the Morena senators who abstained from voting for President López Obrador’s initiative, which has generated controversy.
