Ricardo Iorio – You are his security
Last Saturday, October 14, Ricardo Iorio and his band took the stage at the Rosario Municipal Amphitheater, in Santa Fe, with the aim of concluding their tour called A Few More Estrofas. Almost one of the last songs in a show that lasted just over an hour and a half was the classic “A vos, Friend”; the one in which he makes it clear that “it is my luck to be able to sing what I command. Grateful to you, the archetype of never letting up, loyal and tough. Friend, I am with you.”

But before singing it, he expressed some words that are resignified today: “I hope I have pleased you and, I repeat, perhaps it will be the last time we see each other because people are dying. You sons of bitches are going to die. I still have a lot of bullets left, regarding three, four,” he pointed out from the stage, true to his style. The thing is that the performer was already thinking regarding the next steps, such as his new studio album, following almost seven years.
The last words of Ricardo Iorio
The start of the Rosario day was led by the musical trio Vencer o muerte, which directly opened its presentation with the song “Momento de Luchar”, originally performed by the band V8. Then Impuros came up, a group that made reference to iconic figures of the genre such as Pantera with their song A new level”, as well as a hardcore version of “Desterrando a los obscurantistas de Hermética”, another of the bands of which Iorio was the undisputed leader.

With the arrival of night, at 10 p.m. as planned, the Argentine heavy metal icon took the stage to perform “Hoy es”, a song that served as a kind of reunion with the public. Dressed in camouflage-style clothing, talkative as usual, with a list of topics that he did not disappoint and various reflections, he spent the night, with phrases that are read differently today. “Never die,” they shouted from the audience. “If I don’t die I’ll never be left without friends, brother. What I am sure of is that I am not going to be the healthiest corpse in the cemetery. “I’d rather be a freak than a memory,” he reflected.
Ricardo Iorio – You’re just leaving
But without a doubt one of the highest points was when he invited guitarist Carina Alfie to the stage, who joined the band in a couple of songs like “Guitarrera”, the hit that opens his fourth solo album, and then performed “Justo that you’re leaving” and its prophetic lyrics: “Just as you’re leaving, this song arrives like a final goodbye. I dream that you keep her in your heart, as in mine, I keep you.”

After an hour and a half following his arrival on stage, and without performing any encores, Ricardo Iorio left the stage, also leaving an audience happy to see him on stage. And eager to know the new material, that work that had him excited and that he had already released some songs.
On that point, the one who seemed shocked was Juanchi Baleirón, musician, record producer and personal friend of the former leader of Almafuerte, who said: “I can’t believe it… we were chatting from time to time. I was full of touring projects… in November I was going to record the new album, I can’t believe it,” and then continue on that last conversation: “We resumed a chat regarding anecdotes. Super cool, with energy, with desire, with projects, I don’t think so.” I can believe”.
The last message received by Baleirón was on Monday, October 23 at 11:25 p.m. Later, a statement would arrive from the Raúl Caccavo Municipal Hospital, in Coronel Suárez: “Today, Tuesday, October 24, at 6:51 a.m. an emergency call was received requesting an ambulance to Mr. Iorio’s rural home. ”. The musician died on the way to the hospital.
