In fact, he was always the hunter. He shot elephants, giraffes and lions. Now Riaan Naude is dead. The 55-year-old was found lifeless next to his car in early June. According to a police spokesman, “he was lying face up and there was blood on his head and on his face”. A cartridge is said to have been found next to the body. The motive for the attack is still unclear.

Naude is said to be on the way to Kruger National Park must have been when he stopped at the curb because his car was overheating. According to an eyewitness, a white Nissan pickup truck is said to have stopped next to him, from which two men got out. One of them is said to have killed the trophy hunter with a shot in the head. As the organization “Heritage Protection Group” reports on Facebook, the men then stole one of his weapons and fled. Hunting rifles, whiskey, clothes, water and a sleeping bag were later found in his car.

Naude ran the company “Pro Hunt Africa”, with which he offered hunting expeditions in northern South Africa near the Kruger National Park: 820 euros to hunt a zebra, 1250 euros for a giraffe and 2000 euros for a crocodile. A hunt for a lioness might be booked for 4500 euros.
