Rhodes: The island is “drowning” by immigrants – “They sleep in cardboard boxes and have taken over the parks”

The port police proceeded to arrest six people in the maritime area of ​​Rhodes while at the same time they organized an operation locating 86 migrants in the Diafani area of ​​Karpathos whom they had disembarked.

However, the inhabitants of the island are very worried since immigrants and refugees make improvised camps in the center of the city and wait outside the police services of the island, so that they can be registered.

“They are sleeping in cardboard boxes and have taken over the parks,” the president of the Rhodes Police, Manolis Androulakis, told OPEN characteristically, speaking about the issue.

According to the television station’s report, police officers complain that bureaucratic failures are intensifying the problem. “We transport immigrants to Diavata and Malakasa,” said Mr. Androulakis on the issue, noting that it has been requested since the beginning of September that the transports take place in Kos, where the structure there is one third full, according to him.
