Rhine to Volga: A Night of Teutonic Tales in Astrakhan

The conference hall of the Krupskaya Regional Scientific Library will host a literary festival “Long Live the Muses, Long Live Poetry!”, dedicated to the works of German writers Johann Wolfgang Goethe and Friedrich Schiller.
Goethe and Schiller had a creative friendship, in memory of which a bronze double statue was erected in front of the German National Theater in Weimar in 1857.
Students of the Romano-Germanic department of the Faculty of Foreign Languages of Astrakhan State University will highlight the biographies of classics and read poems, ballads and excerpts from their famous works – both in translation and in the original language. A book and illustrative exhibition “Great Masters of Words Goethe and Schiller”, compiled from publications in the library collections, will also open.
By the way, the repertoires of Astrakhan theaters include performances whose literary basis is the works of classics of world literature. Thus, in the playbill of the drama theater you can find the drama “Cunning and Love” by Schiller, and in the AGTOiB – the opera “The Damnation of Faust” by G. Berlioz, based on Goethe’s tragedy.
The free event will take place on October 16 at 2 p.m.
