INDONESIAN archer, Rezza Octavia, said that the archery competition at the 2024 Paris Olympics will be dynamic.

Rezza, as she is familiarly called, will appear in the individual and women’s team events at the event which takes place every four years.

“Archery is very dynamic. So for example yesterday (at World Cup Stage 3) we also didn’t predict when we would lose… but thankfully we had collected ranking points from AWC 1-3 so it was quite helpful and it turned out that what we considered a tough competitor was not able to compete with our points,” said Rezza as reported by BetweenFriday (12/7).

The Central Board of the Indonesian Archery Association (PP Perpani) has changed the location of the archery team’s training camp (TC) with an atmosphere made similar to the 2024 Paris Olympics for match simulation purposes since June 26.

Seeing this readiness, Rezza assessed that the preparations made by the Indonesian archery team were extraordinary considering that the team was given the same simulation program as when facing the upcoming Olympics.

“The preparation for Paris was extraordinary. My team and I were given a program that was almost similar, it felt the same as the match later,” said the 23-year-old athlete.

“The specific preparation as seen earlier, we started to be divided into mixed teams, then team matches, and individual matches, like that. Basically simulations before the match,” added Rezza.

The Indonesian archery team is planned to depart for Paris, France on July 14 to prepare for acclimatization, namely adjusting to temperature, weather and climate before appearing on July 25.

“We happened to leave on the 14th, so we acclimatized first there.
“There…maybe the preparations there will be like here, only we are more focused on adapting to the weather, the climate there, the food, everything,” said the winner of the individual gold medal at the 2021 Vietnam SEA Games.

PP Perpani targets the Indonesian archery team to be able to repeat the success achieved at the 1988 Seoul Olympics, South Korea, namely winning the silver medal which was previously presented by three Indonesian women, namely Kusuma Wardhani, Nurfitriyana Salim and Lilis Handayani. (Z-6)
