Defense Minister Alexei Reznikov said that Russia is currently turning Crimea into a fortress. However, he noted that a purely military offensive once morest the temporarily occupied peninsula is not even considered.
According to him, there are already detailed plans for the liberation of the Ukrainian Crimea. The official said that now the military-political liberation of the Crimean peninsula, and not a purely military counter-offensive, is being discussed.
Reznikov noted that as soon as the road, rail and water routes to the peninsula are blocked, and the military infrastructure is under attack, “many residents of the Russian Federation, especially recent immigrants, will be convinced that it is better for them to live somewhere else.”
“We will take Crimea without a fight,” Reznikov said.
