In this context, the General Authority for the Care of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia announced that the project includes the establishment and operation of a suitable means of transportation to facilitate the performance of the rituals of Tawaf and Sa’i in the Grand Mosque, in accordance with the best practices and solutions provided locally and internationally.
The project aims, according to the Authority, to design a transportation system that suits the privacy of the Grand Mosque and contributes to providing an experience of arrival, circumambulation and Sa’i that reaches 100,000 beneficiaries daily during the seasons, through the operational efficiency of the proposed means of transportation to facilitate circumambulation and seek to reduce the time required to perform the rituals and improve the level of general satisfaction from (78) currently to more than (90%) according to the CAST standard and the performance center measurement index.
It also aims to raise the efficiency of the journey of the guest of God, starting from booking, through using the proposed means of transportation, until the completion of Umrah, Tawaf, or Sa’i, and to reduce the duration of procedures and the waiting period to obtain the service.
The project will cover the entire Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque, with the possibility of expanding to taxi drop-off points in the central area and shuttle stations, according to the authority’s statement.
