This was expressed by the head of the health portfolio, Dr. Luis Medina Ruiz, who toured the PRIS together with the executive medical secretaries of Siprosa, Dr. Miguel Ferre Contreras, the director of Health Management, Dr. Alejandra Mattiacci, and the coordinator of Pediatric and Neonatal Emergencies. of the province, Dr. Patricia Villagra, in order to establish new strategies for a better development of this technology.

On the occasion, Medina Ruiz said that the Health System has virtual offices with expert medical professionals, caring for the patient virtually: “They are contained, studies are requested and then, if necessary, they are referred to medical care.” in person.”

In addition, the minister indicated that they have tele-obstetrics, which is an entity that monitors pregnant women and newborn children. He also highlighted the Listen Health service, which through 0800 4444 999 attends to consultations and reserves appointments. . “What we are looking for is to increase capacity, we want all people who call to have an immediate response, whether it is an appointment, attention, prescription, request for studies, etc.,” he indicated, while recalling that they also have follow-up epidemiology of prevalent diseases.

“All this offer completes what we offer in more than 350 services in the province. I want to highlight that we are close to opening a virtual hospital in order to guarantee better care for the community,” said Medina Ruiz.

In this sense, the head of the Telemedicine Department, Dr. María Eugenia López, maintained that one of the objectives of the minister’s visit is the planning of the operation of the virtual hospital: “He has to create a new structure, processes and human resources. That is why he came to see the conditions we are in to be able to launch.”

López said that there are currently three areas, which make up the virtual hospital: the patient call entry area, where a virtual or in-person appointment is requested; monitoring of patients in epidemiological contingencies; and the spontaneous consultation area: “Today we operate within the medical specialties from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday to Friday, and tele-obstetrics works including Saturdays and Sundays. The idea is to expand the benefits and hours so that it works 24 hours a day, seven days a week.”

To be able to communicate with this service, the community can do so through Salud Escucha at 0800 4444 999 and through the TucSalud App.

Dr. Carolina Heredia, from Salud Escucha, explained that they have shifts from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., receiving calls and assigning shifts to patients in the different hospitals of the Health System: “The patient must contact the data so that we can assign the corresponding shift.”

Meanwhile, Sebastián Vega, a general practitioner who currently coordinates the Epidemiological Surveillance Call Center, which is a TeleHealth area that originated from the pandemic and who worked for more than three years with patients with COVID-19, dengue and other emerging diseases, he said: “We received information from the patients who underwent the studies, such as cases of dengue or COVID-19, and from there we contacted the patient and evaluated them through technology and According to that, we saw that another instance of attention was required.”

“This is a new mode of medicine, where we can communicate and reach more distant places”

In this way, Dr. Liliana Mistreta, who has been part of the Health System for 28 years, worked for 25 years at the Avellaneda hospital and has been in telemedicine since the pandemic, highlighted this new technology: “What I do is contact with patients. pediatrics in order to monitor both children with recurrent obstructive bronchial syndrome and those with obesity and malnutrition.”

The professional indicated that this virtuality allows us to see the patient’s habitat and their social conditions. “Both obese children and those who suffer from malnutrition and do not have a doctor, are referred to the Eastern Hospital or, for example, the Children’s Hospital to be able to monitor them. This is a very effective tool that allows us to be closer to people,” said Mistreta, who maintained that he is now closer to families and thus reaps more love.
