The main agenda, in addition to asking for accountability from the PP ISEI General Chairperson for the 2021-2024 period, is also to seek a candidate for general chairperson who is capable of carrying out sustainable economic transformation.
According to the Executive Chair of the XXII ISEI 2024 Congress, Anggito AbimanyuThe XXII ISEI Congress in Solo is the implementation of the mandate of the XXIII Plenary Session and the 2023 ISEI National Seminar which was held in Bengkulu on September 15, 2023. This time, The congress raised the theme Strengthening the foundations of inclusive and sustainable economic transformation and public policies. The theme was chosen based on the complexity of the challenges that need to be anticipated in strengthening economic resilience and revival to achieve Golden Indonesia.
At least, there are five complex challenges that are of concern to ISEI in the future. First, changes in the economic and financial cycle that are increasingly rapid and risky in creating vulnerabilities. Second, the shift in the pattern of sources of world economic growth from Europe and the United States (US) to China, Indonesia and India. Third, demographic changes that are increasingly aging in developed countries (aging population) and millennials in Indonesia. Fourth, digitalization that plays a role in containing the impact of the pandemic. Fifth, inclusion and green economy that need to be responded to properly.
“The complexity of these challenges makes us need a leader in ISEI who is able to carry out sustainable economic transformation. Who is that figure? It is the task of the ISEI branch chairs throughout Indonesia to find him at the Congress,” said Anggito Abimanyu in a press release received Indonesian MediaTuesday (17/9).
Policy formulation
According to Anggito, there are four main objectives to be achieved from the 22nd ISEI Congress and 2024 National Seminar. First, to ask for accountability from the management of PP ISEI for the 2021-2024 period and the election of the General Chairperson of PP ISEI for the 2024-2027 period. Second, to improve the relationship between ISEI members and administrators throughout the archipelago, and to strengthen the basis for managing the ISEI organization in realizing its vision as an organization that makes a real contribution to the national economy, supported by strengthening synergy between policy makers at the center and regions.
Third, increasing the active role of ISEI in promoting academic and research capabilities in universities. Fourth, encouraging ISEI’s participation in policy formulations to address various economic challenges at the national and global levels, especially in facing the challenges of geofragmentation, as well as increasingly rapid and vulnerable economic and financial cycles.
“The results of the formulation of economic policies will be submitted to the government and stakeholders as input for ISEI’s perspective/thoughts,” said Anggito Abimanyu.
As part of the series of events for the 2024 ISEI National Congress and Seminar, several activities were also held, namely (i) invitations to write scientific papers (call for paper) to be presented and published in the Indonesian Economic Journal (JEI) managed by ISEI; (ii) international workshop for writing international standard scientific journals in collaboration with BMEB workshop; (iii) presentation of Applied Studies of ISEI Branches throughout Indonesia at the XII ISEI Congress; and (iv) implementation of the general meeting of members (RUA) of LAMEMBA.
According to the plan, the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Ir. H. Joko Widodo is scheduled to give directions at the opening of the XXII ISEI Congress on the first day, Thursday, September 19, 2024. In addition to President Joko Widodo, the Mayor of Surakarta Teguh Prakosa, and the General Chairperson of PP ISEI Perry Warjiyo is also scheduled to give a speech.
On this first day there will also be held Call for Paper IF YOU LEAVE Workshop BMEB at FEB UNS, as well as the 2024 National Seminar. The seminar presented speakers Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani Indrawati, Deputy Minister of State-Owned Enterprises Kartika Wirjoatmodjo, Universitas Indonesia FISIP Professor Eko Prasojo, and Head of Apindo Shinta W Kamdani.
The series of activities on the first day will be closed with Gala Dinner which was held at De Tjolomadoe – Convention & Heritage. Meanwhile, the XXII ISEI Congress will be held on the second day, Friday, September 20, 2024. The entire series of events will be closed with the LAMEMBA General Members Meeting (RUA). (X-10)
