Position Details
You know, in the grand cosmic scheme of things, homework is one of those pesky little tasks that make even the most dedicated students want to throw their textbooks out of the window and run to a beach in Bali. But fear not, dear learners, for the Alpha Study is here to transform those after-school blues into a symphony of learning. And if you’re thinking of joining this revolutionary movement, prepare to put some fun into function!
The Alpha Study organizes evening homework sessions across sixty schools in France—yes, that’s right, sixty! If you thought your school was just a place for lessons and lunchtime dramas, think again. Our mission? To assist those brave middle and high school students in their eternal quest for knowledge while maintaining a sense of order and method. It’s sort of like herding cats, but slightly more educational.
Now, let’s talk about your glorious mission. As a reference tutor, you’ll be in the front line of organized academic chaos. Think of yourself as a superhero, minus the cape (and bad spandex). Your primary role: to welcome students and guide them through an hour of constructive work. That’s right, HERO! You’ll be dynamic, educational, and let’s be honest, probably making up half the stuff to keep them interested.
This gig involves not just supervising those bright-eyed learners but also managing the other tutors who will pop in for reinforcement. Imagine being the ringmaster of a circus; you’ve got the clowns (the students), the jugglers (the tutors), and the lions (the kids’ attention spans)—all under your watchful eye!
Working Environment
Now, let’s set the stage for your new life. You’ll primarily be strutting your stuff in a private school in Villeurbanne, where the ambiance is as serious as the students’ attempts to remember their homework. Your hours? Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 4:45 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. Which means ideally you’ll have just enough time to recover from your day before leaping headfirst into the homework fray.
Not to mention, you’ll be earning a fabulous €13 net per hour! I mean, who knew education could be so… profitable? You’re essentially getting paid to help kids avoid becoming members of the “I-should-have-done-my-homework” club.
Ready to jump in? Mark your calendar, as the grand start date is Monday, November 4th! That gives you just enough time to gather your supplies and conjure up motivational speeches that would make Socrates proud.
Profile
Now don’t fret if you’re feeling a bit underqualified; they prefer candidates with experience in education, academic support, or even animation (not the cartoon kind, I assure you—though that could be pretty exciting)!
To excel in this role, you should possess a blend of dynamism, trustworthiness, organization, and a certain je ne sais quoi that balances authority and kindness. You should bask in the glow of teamwork with both students and fellow adults, dreaming of the day you’ll lead your army of tutors into the fray.
So, you think you can handle it? You think you can help these children navigate their academic waters and maybe, just maybe, throw a little joy into that eternal grind of homework? Then this is your calling, my friend! Like a lighthouse guiding ships safely in, the Alpha Study is lighting a path through the murky waters of education and making sure we all avoid crashing on the shores of confusion!

**Marie Dubois:** Absolutely! The Alpha Study was founded with the vision of making homework sessions not just bearable, but enjoyable for students. We operate across sixty schools in France, focusing on middle and high school students. Our mission is to assist them in tackling their academic requirements while instilling good study habits. At the heart of this initiative is our belief that learning can, and should, be fun!
**Editor:** That’s a refreshing perspective! What unique approach does the Alpha Study take to engage students during these sessions?
**Marie Dubois:** We refer to our tutors as “reference tutors,” and they play a pivotal role. They act like superheroes, welcoming students and guiding them through an hour of structured work. Our approach combines supervision with encouragement, allowing students to feel supported yet challenged. Plus, we encourage our tutors to be dynamic and creative in their methods—a little humor never hurts when trying to engage teenagers!
