The National Electoral Council (CNE) overturned the recall process against the mayor of Medellín, Daniel Quintero, It also announced that it has opened an investigation and will file charges against the promoter committee.
According to this electoral court, “The financial statements do not include all the contributions in money or in kind that each natural or legal person made during the campaign, which may constitute a violation of article 11 of Law 1757 of 2011 ″. says the first charge made”.

In addition, according to the CNE, with seven votes in favor and two against, there is an alleged violation of ceilings in the campaign to collect citizen support for the recall request.
Under this scenario, those investigated are: Andrés Felipe Rodríguez Puerta, Jorge Alejandro Posada, Luis Alfonso García, Jaime Gonzalo Torres and Julio Enrique González, in addition to the accountant Raúl Bautista.
“Today justice has been done”, as he expressed it Daniel Quintero on the afternoon of this Tuesday when pronouncing on the decision of the CNE.
“From the first day we were elected, the persecution against us began, a political, economic, media, legal and even family persecution. They set up a recall for us, allied with parapoliticians, with condemned contractors, with orphans of power, who dedicated themselves to harming Medellín,” said the local president.

Accompanied by his cabinet and his wife, Diana Osorio, the mayor thanked the citizens for their support and added that: “nevertheless, and despite everything, today justice has been done, justice has been done in Medellín, justice has been done with the thousands of people who love Medellin”.
Quintero insisted that in said recall process there were forged signatures and financial mismanagement. “This is a recall that has been buried in its own irregularities because they are like that. They took over and created a corporation to triangulate the resources, to be able to hide who was putting up the money for that recall, and we know that there are dark interests,” he insisted.
The mayor added that he will continue with his government plan: “I am convinced that now we can work and work for Medellín, work so that young people really have an opportunity, that they can access a computer, that they can access zero enrollment, work so that Medellín is a Valley of Software in which we recover the employment that the pandemic has taken from us.”
It should be remembered that the recall committee had already approved the number of signatures sufficient to move forward with the process, but the accounting mess had stopped everything and it was finally resolved against him.
It is expected that on Tuesday night, the recall committee, called Pact for Medellinrule on this decision of the CNE and on the opening of investigations.
