Reviving the Arab Soul: A Journey Towards Overcoming Israel’s Hesitance for Harmony

In an interview with RT Arabic, the Syrian Foreign Minister revealed his country’s condition for rapprochement with Turkey after Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s call to establish a Syrian-Egyptian-Turkish solidarity axis, his position on Western interventions in the Arab region, his view of Israeli practices and the war of extermination waged by the Israeli army against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, and Western policies towards these violations. This was in the context of the following interview:

– First of all, how do you view the developments of the war in Gaza?

The story of Gaza will not be erased from the history of the world, because it has proven once again that global Zionism does not want peace or security for the region, but rather wants to colonize the region in every sense of the word, and to perpetuate Western control over the region’s resources. In light of this raging war, the least feeling is to stand with Gaza, and we in Syria do not stand with Gaza because they are our brothers or our siblings and our sons, but we stand with them because they are the present and the future and they are the ones who shed their generous blood so that the basic Arab cause, the Palestinian cause, remains at the heart of our peoples’ concerns, and at the heart of global concerns.

I can confirm that what the Palestinian people in Gaza and the West Bank are recording every day is an Arab achievement that we must preserve, and we must prove that we are with the Palestinian people’s struggle until they obtain their full rights, establish their independent state, and liberate their land, which is Arab land.

– What is your view of the Israeli practices in the Arab region, including what is happening in Gaza?

The Israeli occupation is waging a brutal war against the Palestinian people, a war of genocide, in which more than 41 thousand Palestinians have been killed so far, including more than 16 thousand children and 12 thousand women. The reality and what is happening in Palestine proves that this entity that was planted in the heart of the Arab region does not only aim to humiliate the Palestinian people, but also to reach all the capabilities of the Arab nation and control it with Western support. The evidence for this is the repeated Israeli attacks on Syrian and Arab lands and what the occupation forces are waging against Lebanon, Iraq and Yemen, as they commit aggression and crime after another without accountability.

Syria understood from the beginning that the Arab calls to establish a just peace in the region were not made by the occupying state from this noble standpoint, but rather were calls aimed at winning the battle of peace and the battle of land at the same time. Since 1990, there has been a peace process, and it was welcomed, but it began to decline one degree after another until we reached what we are seeing now, which reveals the true goal of Zionism and its commission of a complete human genocide to confirm Zionist-Western hegemony and control over Arab lands. This is the main reason for the failure of all attempts to establish peace in the region.

– How do you evaluate Western policy towards the ongoing Israeli violations of Arab lands?

Israel is accustomed to launching its attacks and hostile actions against Syria, Lebanon, Iraq and Yemen, in addition to the war of extermination it is waging in Gaza. It would not have done this, and sought to tear apart the Arab region, except with the support of the United States of America and the Western countries. Whenever any Arab country reacts against Israel, the Western countries rise up and declare that this aggression is tantamount to an aggression against it, and it could not have committed all these crimes without the support provided by the Western countries. The same is the case for all the forces that attacked the Arab countries, which were supported by America and Israel, such as ISIS and the Muslim Brotherhood, which received billions to implement plans in the Arab region.

Is Israel seeking to expand its conflict in the Arab region?

Certainly, when the Israeli aggression occurs against the Palestinian people, it occurs against the Arab people in all parts of the Arab world, and when Israel attacks the Syrian people, it commits aggression against all Arab countries. If Israel is not currently carrying out aggression against Arab countries, this does not mean that it is exempt from the policy of aggression, but it is carrying out these aggressions according to a plan and methodology supported by the West in order to achieve Western goals in this region, foremost of which is Western control over its wealth and the wealth of the Arab peoples, and keeping them at the mercy of Western countries.
