Not long after Microsoft announced last year that they were acquiring Activision Blizzard, fans began listing classic franchises they’d like to see play out and suggesting that the studio should develop games made by other teams. Now that Activision Blizzard is officially part of Microsoft, the wish list has grown even further, but is this something Xbox boss Phil Spencer would even allow? It turns out the answer is yes, as Spencer visited the latest episode of the Official Xbox Podcast to talk about the acquisition. When he was asked about the team’s revival of its legacy, he said: “If the team wants to go back and revisit some of the things we have – and put our full focus – I’m all for it.” Spencer also said he thinks Game Pass Microsoft The opportunity to revisit dormant franchises a few times a year – and again mentions that he loved Hexen as a kid: “I do think with Game Pass we have the ability to pick up a couple franchises a year and almost, like revisit . I just made that word up. So it’s not the brand on the box, but you know, I make fun of things like Hexen just because I remember playing with it as a kid. I don’t have plans for that, but I do think that when you look at all the franchises that we have on our team, we have an opportunity to go back. Even if it’s just a matter of recognizing a moment and what these things mean in the history of the game and doing something right with it. Make it available to people through Game Pass. I think this is an opportunity. Are there any cool franchises you’d like to see Microsoft make a comeback? Maybe Ghost in Alliance, Banjo Kazooie in Toys for Bob, The Last Viking in Rare, or Hutson in Trayak ? Let us know in the comments section. Check out the fun episode of the podcast below. The discussion about revisiting classic games starts around the 17-minute mark.
