Egypt and Turkey announced, on Tuesday, that they would raise their diplomatic relations to the level of ambassadors, with the aim of establishing normal relations between the two countries again, after years of estrangement and sharp political differences.
The Egyptian Foreign Ministry said, in a statement, that Cairo had nominated Ambassador, Amr Al-Hamami, as its ambassador to Ankara, while Turkey nominated Ambassador, Saleh Mutlu Shen, as its ambassador to Cairo.
She added that the upgrade of diplomatic relations between the two countries comes within the framework of implementing the decision of the presidents of the two countries in this regard.
The statement stressed that the step aims to establish normal relations between the two countries again, and reflects their joint determination to work towards strengthening their bilateral relations for the benefit of the Egyptian and Turkish peoples.

For its part, the Turkish Foreign Ministry confirmed that Egypt and Turkey have raised the level of diplomatic representation to the level of ambassadors and are exchanging two ambassadors.
