Reviving an Abandoned Farm: Nature in the City and Biodiversity Education

2023-08-14 13:45:00

It had been almost abandoned for more than twenty years.

This project is the result of a collaboration between Brussels Environment, the municipality’s CPAS, Urban and Natagora.

Initially, the work will focus on the natural plots around the farm: “There will be farm animals and a small barnyard” says Jérôme Bohbot, project manager at the CPAS in Berchem-Sainte-Agathe. Here, the great novelty will be the installation of a wooden pontoon, to allow access to people with reduced mobility.

The current vegetable garden will be enlarged and the barn refurbished to offer educational workshops around nature in the city and biodiversity. The end of the renovation work is estimated for the end of 2024.
