Abandoned for nearly 20 years, the building, which housed the former institute of astrophysics, is now sold. This was announced by Minister Adrien Dolimont to our colleagues from the Future. Property of the Walloon Region since 2001, it was sold on Monday to private buyers for the sum of 1.625 million euros (it was put up for sale on the basis of an estimate of €950,000).

The Walloon Minister of Budget and Finance however assured that it was a question of preserving the scientific tools hosted by the observatory, for the benefit of the astronomical society of Liège. It is a question of developing high-quality housing there while also preserving the landscaped park.
The buyers are an association of two investors. The Liège architectural firm Plan 9 is mentioned with regard to the development of the future project.
