Asuncion, IP Agency.- The maintenance of the road network in the southern departments of Ñeembucú and Misiones is key to improving the connectivity of several communities and that is why the Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) undertook a series of works, considering that more than 85 percent of the Paraguayan road network is made up of dirt roads.
Through District No. 8 of Misiones and in coordination with local governments, MOPC crews were in the community of Santa Librada, district of San Miguel, where they carried out patching and platform profiling tasks. Likewise, in the Tambory – Santiago section, profiling and patching tasks were carried out on the platform.
The work in Misiones also extended to the district of Villa Florida, where patching and profiling of the roadbed were carried out. In addition, similar activities were carried out in the community of San Pedrito, district of San Miguel. All these works are part of the ongoing maintenance plan for departmental roads in Misiones.
Homework in Ñeembucú
For its part, District No. 12 of Ñeembucú closed the week with multiple activities. On Friday, September 6, they did profiling and patching of the platform on the stretch of route PY04 – Tacuaras. On the same day, they carried out platform profiling tasks on the stretch that goes from Mayor Martínez to Isla Umbú.
The day before, on Thursday, September 5, work continued on profiling the platform on the Humaitá – Paso de Patria section. On Wednesday, September 4, work was concentrated on the General Díaz – Costa Paraná – Paso de Patria section, where profiling of the platform was carried out.
Also on September 4, in coordination with the Municipality and within the framework of the MOPC-Gobernación agreement, local roads in the town of General Díaz were improved.
The importance of these actions must be highlighted because these roads, whether secondary or main, connect small human settlements with each other and with larger urban agglomerations and are the capillaries that allow the development of productive and social activities in rural areas.
