After ten months of work, the priory of Malèves-Sainte-Marie has regained all its glory in Perwez. 550,000 euros were needed to renovate the surrounding wall, several meeting rooms, the toilets of the central building but especially the priory church. A new face for this place of worship which also opens up to secular celebrations.
This is the pioneering concept set up by Gabriel Ringlet, head of the priory of Malèves-Sainte-Marie: “This might serve as an inspiration for other churches. Today, these places of worship must also be able to accommodate people wishing for a moment of reflection and perspective, whether they are believers or not. We were already open to as many people as possible and this will be even more the case. We must create bridges.“This is why the renovation of the church was designed to transform it into a cultural hall. Shows, plays, exhibitions and concerts can be performed there.
