Revitalizing Healthcare: A €50 Million Transformation of the Nation’s Largest Hospital at Evangelismos [Photos]

A typical example of this effort is the “Evangelismos” Hospital, the largest and one of the most important hospitals in Greece, which is entering a new era through renovation and energy upgrading projects totaling 50 million euros. The completion of the projects has a two-year horizon.

These projects, which are financed mainly by the Recovery and Resilience Fund, as well as by significant donations from citizens, are expected to substantially upgrade the hospital’s infrastructure and significantly improve conditions for patients and medical staff.

Yesterday, and on the occasion of the opening of the new, renovated department of the Hematology Clinic of the hospital, in the presence of the Minister of Health, Adonis Georgiadis, it became clear that “Evangelism” is in a phase of radical renewal.

The photos before and after the interventions made available to our newspaper make it clear that the largest hospital in the country is expected to soon enter a new era.

BEFORE

AFTER

“With the projects that are already running and those that are starting immediately, I believe that in two years from now we will deliver to the citizens a completely different hospital,” he told “ET”. Mr. Tasos Grigoropoulos, director of the “Evangelismos” Hospital.

“All these interventions are not easy, they require time and a lot of work, especially in such an old building. I completely understand the current difficulties that our patients are facing, but I am sure that at the end of the next two years we will be talking about a hospital that will exceed all expectations”, he adds.

Infrastructure works in “Evangelism”

Projects currently underway or scheduled to begin immediately include:

  • Energy upgrade of surgical clinics and the entire “Patera” building: The project – which has already started from the surgical clinics – concerns the complete renovation and energy upgrade of the “Patera” building, where approximately half of the hospital’s beds are housed. The new air conditioning system and upgraded energy windows will cost around 2.5 million euros.
  • Renovation of the Emergency Department (ED): The renovation of the TEP, as well as the Regular Outpatient Clinics, is a project that will cost 7 million euros.

It starts next week with the relocation of the Regular Outpatient Clinics and in March-April 2025 the works will also start on the TEP.

  • Major renovation of the “Brotherhood House” building: The renovation of this building, with an area of 13,000 square meters, will cost approximately 30-35 million euros and will drastically upgrade the living conditions of the patients, as well as the working conditions of the staff. Donation of Konstantakopoulos with participation of financing from the Recovery Fund (RRF).
  • Creation of 32 new Intensive Care Unit (ICU) beds: The project, which has already started and is a donation of the “Stavros Niarchos” Foundation, includes the construction and renovation of 32 ICU beds, covering a critical need of the hospital.
  • Renovation of medical staff dormitories: At a cost of 1.5 million euros, the project financed by the Vassilakis donation (Aegean) will improve the living and working conditions of the medical staff.

The director of the “Evangelismos” Hospital, Tasos Grigoropoulos, expressed his optimism, underlining that with their completion the hospital will be transformed into a modern, fully equipped space, ready to meet the needs of modern medicine and offer high-level health services to citizens.

“These upgrades are part of a wider strategy to improve public hospitals across the country. Here, at “Evangelismus”, we focus on energy upgrading and the overall improvement of living and care conditions, in order to ensure a safe and humane environment for our patients and staff”, he said specifically, stressing that the implementation of these projects will not was possible without the State’s commitment to strengthen the public Health sector.

The code snippet you’ve shared appears to be part of a script that initializes various ad services and analytics on a web page. Here’s a ‍breakdown of its components:

  1. Google Publisher Tags (GPT):

– It defines ad slots for different placements on the website, such as prestitial, inline1, inline2, etc.

⁤ – Targeting⁤ is set for ads to categorize them based on ⁤ pageType, category, and article_id.

  1. Ad Display Logic:

– The function displaySlot is used to render the defined ad slots.

– Conditional rendering ⁣is implemented for mobile and desktop views.

  1. Google AdSense:

– Based on the device type (mobile or desktop), ⁣it removes the adsense elements that are not applicable.

‌ -⁢ There is a placeholder to process each ⁢adsense slot (currently not⁤ implemented).

  1. Third-Party Ad Services:

– Integration ⁤with Phaistos Adman, Taboola,‍ and potentially other ad networks is indicated by the commented-out scripts and⁣ asyncLoadScript calls.

  1. Push⁢ Notification Service (OneSignal):

– OneSignal is configured with an app ID, allowing the website‍ to send push notifications.

  1. Disqus for Comments:

‍ ‍- It sets up the Disqus commenting ⁤system using the article ID.

  1. Asynchronous Script Loading:

– The roadblock‌ for some services is⁤ the‌ use of the asyncLoadScript ‌ function, which presumably loads additional scripts ‍asynchronously⁢ (though its definition isn’t included).

  1. Miscellaneous‍ Analytics:

⁢ – There are ⁤placeholders ⁤for integrating Facebook Pixel, Weather scripts, and other analytics related services, which are ⁤commented out.

Suggestions:

  • Completeness: Ensure the placeholders for sensitive integration points (like URLs) are filled out correctly before deployment.
  • Performance Checks: Monitor how ad loading impacts performance, particularly with multiple asynchronous scripts.⁤ Adjust delay times if needed.
  • Testing Across Devices: Test all variations of mobile and desktop ‍views to ensure the correct‌ ad formats display‍ and there are no layout shifts.
  • Console Errors: ‌Check for any console errors to troubleshoot issues with ad loading or misconfigurations ⁤in your target settings.

If you have any specific questions or need help⁢ with a⁣ particular part of the code, feel free to ask!
