Revitalizing Community Care: Historic $3.7 Billion Injection Powers Local Health Initiatives

Asunción, IP Agency.- The Ministry of Public Health and Social Welfare delivered checks worth 3.7 billion guaraníes to Regional and Local Health Councils, within the framework of the incentive agreement for compliance with health goals.

Since 2008, the transfer of Equity Funds to the legally constituted Health Councils has been progressively implemented, as a complement to the resources allocated budgetarily to the Health Regions at the national level, which makes it possible to contribute to the coverage of operating expenses of the Health Posts. Health.

This system is an incentive plan by which funds are transferred to the Local Councils through their municipalities, for the first level of care, that is, the Family Health Units (USF).

The delivery is carried out by health goal and according to the fulfillment of indicators such as the detection of diabetes and the adequate treatment of this disease, the detection of high blood pressure and its adequate treatment, the early detection of pregnant women and maternal coverage.

The transfer is made quarterly in three payments and the amount designated on this occasion for each department and its different Councils.

For Concepcion 82,500,000 guaraníes were delivered, while for Cordillera, 282,000,000 guaraníes; Guairá received 175,500,000 guaraníes; to Caaguazú, 82,500,000 guaraníes, and Caazapá, 186,000,000 guaraníes.

In so far as Itapúa was delivered the total sum of 496,500,000 guaraníes, to Misiones, 420,000,000 guaraníes; Paraguay, 420,000,000; Upper Parana, 104,250,000 guaraníes; Central, 615,000,000; 183,000,000; Amambay, 75,000,000; Canindeyú, 160,500,000; President Hayes, 282,000; and Boquerón, 157,500,000 guaraníes.

The representatives of the councils received the checks, some corresponding to the second delivery and others to the third in their respective areas, complying with the protocols established under the covid-19 pandemic.

The director of the General Directorate of Health Decentralization, Dr. Pablo Méndez, took advantage of the occasion to continue providing constant advice on the work carried out in the councils, focused on health decentralization in Paraguay.
