Revitalizing and Memorializing: A Project to Remember Our Little Ones and Transform a Site

But this project still seems quite nebulous. Not everyone is aligned on the same wavelength yet. The municipal councilors have their idea, the parents too, the violins still have to be tuned.

But the mayor assures him, the desire to bring this matter to fruition remains present:

We absolutely want to show parents and the public that we want to move forward and redevelop this site. We want to contribute to the revaluation and memory space that parents want.

Lucien Bauduin calls on the Minister’s office to take action. “The most important thing in the eyes of parents is that there can be a space where we remember our little ones. We estimate the cost of this project to be around 150,000 euros. Given the symbolism of the issue, I consider that the Walloon government and the minister in particular can make a gesture with regard not only to our municipality but especially with regard to the emotional nature which affects parents.“And to add:”It is up to the Minister to decide whether she has exceptional funds to do this. This file meets the requirements of rural development“.

Concretely, either the Minister’s services reconsider their decision, an unlikely option, or it will be necessary to submit a new request within the framework of another call for projects with new specifications. However, a municipal rural development plan cannot be written in a few strokes of a spoon. “It would take another 2 years then. What does it mean ? They want to further delay us in implementing the improvements to this property? That wouldn’t make much sense. We hope to bring this place back to life and make it a public park with parking and, undoubtedly, an element of memory“.

When contacted, Minister Tellier’s office never responded to our interview requests.
