More and more natural, fresh and discreet results with less or even no volume on the face, revitalized skin, less invasive and more regenerative treatments that stimulate the production of natural collagen and with minimal or immediate recovery times, among others, they charge more and more. more greater relevance in the world of aesthetic medicine today.

This is confirmed by various doctors from 10 Latin American countries, including Costa Rica, Mexico, Argentina, Brazil, Chile and the Dominican Republic, who together with more than 550 doctors recently met in Mexico City to discuss innovations and trends in the field of aesthetic medicine in the framework of the eighth edition of the Latin American Merz Aesthetics Expert Summit.

In addition, they emphasize that regenerative aesthetic medicine is the future, already being part of the present. The techniques and treatments used in regenerative aesthetics allow the skin to rejuvenate naturally, reducing fine lines, wrinkles and other conditions, such as more pronounced sagging.

As doctors explain, both men and women are currently looking for and choosing procedures that make them feel good without altering their appearance. As Costa Rican dermatologist Dr. Carlos Bravo, one of the prominent speakers at this prestigious Merz Aesthetics event, mentions: ‘patients want a result that is noticeable, but at the same time very discreet’.

The goal is to slow down the signs of the passage of time, managing to preserve the appearance of years ago.

The Chilean anesthesiologist, Daniela Sandoval, emphasizes that “the current focus of aesthetic medicine is to regenerate and biostimulate, not volumize. The regenerative approach seeks to reposition and regenerate tissues through biostimulation as a pillar of current treatments”.

Biostimulation is defined as a set of procedures aimed at stimulating, mainly, fibroblasts (type of cells) to improve the appearance of the skin.

Dr. Loretta Piccolo, a Costa Rican dermatologist, affirms that in these times, both in dermatology and in aesthetic medicine, emphasis is placed on the quality of the skin and internal improvement.

“In contrast to the previous focus of simply filling, concealing and makeup, we are now focused on improving the health and appearance of the skin. A well-done procedure looks beautiful and natural, that is the basis of beauty in aesthetic medicine, ”she emphasizes.

For Dr. Lil Peláez, a specialist in aesthetic medicine and anti-aging from the Dominican Republic, the benefits of biostimulation have no limits.

For her part, the Argentinian specialist in dermatology and aesthetics, Dr. Julieta Spada, comments that biostimulators reposition tissues, do not give volume, improve the skin and activate those fibroblasts that were inactive.

Finally, the dermatologists from Mexico Dr. Adriana Cárdenas and Dr. Polo de Velasco, who have as a patient the renowned Mexican actress and model Mayrin Villanueva, Ambassador of Confidence Squad Latam Merz Aesthetics and present at the Expert Summit as moderator of a table round session for journalists, they also referred to regenerative aesthetic medicine and some of the treatments that currently exist.

Both emphasized the importance of establishing strong doctor-patient communication, where limits are set by the doctor and the patient avoids imposing himself.

«In aesthetic medicine it is essential to respect the unique characteristics of each face and avoid exact copies or imitations. Likewise, the use of high-quality products and their application by continuously trained physicians”, they concluded.
