Its inauguration took place late Saturday morning following a whole series of activities offered by the CPIE Pays de Bourgogne, the Friends of Flowers and the Espace Tuilerie team.
Present at this inauguration were Jérôme Durain, senator and vice-president of the Region, Louis Margueritte, deputy for the constituency, Alain Ballot, departmental advisor and Jean-Paul Luard, delegated advisor to the CUCM, representing President David Marti.
During his speech, Mayor Yohann Cassier did not forget to salute the municipal employees who greatly contributed to the completion of the work alongside Stéphane Morel, nurseryman and landscaper in Santenay.
This place which had lost a little of its splendor has regained its shine. It is above all at the northern entrance to the city and traffic is high with the presence of the RN 80, the TGV station and the marshalling yard nearby. The busy lane between Bois Bretoux and the post office should also be extended. This planting of hedges and 28 fruit trees, apple trees, pear trees, plum trees, cherry trees and quince trees is an act of faith in the future, continues Yohann Cassier. The orchard is already a gathering place for those who love nature, the trees will provide shade and produce beautiful fruits that the children will pick. The orchard will be a place where bonds and friendship will be created, but it will not completely erase the memories of the former members of the station, which is perfectly remembered by Alain Ballot, departmental councilor, who played fierce games of football there. football in his childhood. Yohann Cassier concludes by reminding the children present that planting a tree is planting a future. This orchard belongs to everyone and it is up to everyone to preserve it and live there together.
Yohann Cassier recalled that this project, worth around 40,000 euros, supported by the Department and the Region, is only the beginning of a strong desire by the municipal team to create natural spaces in the town.
Senator Jérôme Durain recalled that the Region has been committed since 2008 to any action aimed at preserving biodiversity and not denying the reality of climate change. He also underlined the ambition to transmit natural heritage to young people. For MP Louis Margueritte, this orchard located at the entrance to the town is an example of what needs to be done. It is also the symbol of friendship, it lives up to its name. And we are better there than on the benches of the national assembly.Joël Serviy
