In the last municipal bulletin, Castérois residents were able to discover an important project for the municipality, namely the revitalization of the town center. To do this, a study was requested in order to reflect on this structuring project for Castéra and its future. This reflection is centered around the Auloue, the natural boundary of the plots and concerns four symbolic buildings of the village: the town hall, the old school group, the sports hall and the outbuildings of Lannelongue park. The first phase will concern the sports hall. A project management team is being selected whose mission is to plan the energy renovation of the room as well as the improvement of equipment such as changing rooms, a reception room, toilets for example. The work will also include the plant and mineral treatment of the surroundings of the room. The estimated budget for this operation is estimated at €1,094,287 excluding tax. Various grants were requested: €547,143.50 excluding tax (50% of the amount excluding tax of the operation) for the State equipment grant for rural areas (DETR); €178,259.35 excluding tax (16.29% of the amount excluding tax of the operation) under the regional intervention fund with the Occitanie regional council; €150,000 excluding tax (13.71% of the amount excluding tax of the operation) from the departmental council. The remaining share payable by the municipality amounts to €218,884.15 excluding tax. The important issue which will occupy elected officials for a large part of 2024.
The second phase provides for the renovation of the old school complex and the treatment of the rue des écoles in order to connect the different parks on either side of the road. The third phase concerns the current town hall and its surroundings, including the parking spaces and the interface with the plot where the book tree is located. And finally the fourth will integrate the common areas for integration into Lannelongue Park. Structuring projects which should allow Castéra to maintain its attractiveness, the most convincing proof of which is quite simply the growing increase in the population.
