In Dnipro, on Galina Mazepy Street, on the section between Obraztsovaya and Yantarnaya Streets, repair work is being completed on an emergency section of the road. This place has long needed updating – there was no asphalt pavement here, only slag and crushed stone, which created dangerous conditions for traffic, reports “Dnepr Operativny” with reference to Dniprovsky City Council.
Local resident Anna Lobanova, who has lived here for over 57 years, said that due to the huge holes and poor passability, it was difficult to move along the street. However, after the work was done, the situation changed dramatically.
“There were huge potholes here, and during icy conditions it was impossible to drive at all. Sometimes after heavy rains you could even buy boats to somehow get home. So this repair is a real miracle for us, we did not expect it. And even the taxi driver, the only one who agreed to pick us up through such potholes, arrived and did not recognize the street after the repair. We are all happy and infinitely grateful for such a gift,” said local resident Galina Lobanova.
Repair work has been going on for the second week. According to the deputy director of the department of improvement and infrastructure of the Dnipro city council Dmitry Korobov, the work is planned to be completed by the end of September.
“Over the past 30 years, repairs have not been carried out on this section even once. Now we have to lay about 5 thousand square meters of asphalt pavement,” he noted.
In total, about 300 thousand square meters of roads have already been repaired in Dnepr this year, and by the end of the year, city authorities plan to complete work on more than 250 sites.
