The show, created by Matthew Weiner, enjoyed great success on the American channel AMC from July 19, 2007, to May 17, 2015. In France, it premiered on Canal+ in 2008 spanning seven seasons.

The first four batches of episodes enjoyed immense success across the Atlantic.
