April marks the anniversary of the death of Prinz Philip, husband of Queen Elizabeth II. His funeral at Windsor Castle last year was attended by Prince Harry. His wife, Meghan, stayed in the United States. At the time, the Duchess of Sussex was expecting her second child. It has been suggested that Meghan’s pregnancy was part of the reason she decided not to travel to England. Nobility expert Christopher Andersen, however, claims that Philip should not have been on good terms with Meghan before his death – because he is said to have felt personally disappointed by Harry’s wife because of the “Megxit”.
Prince Philip on Meghan: “We were wrong regarding her”
In January 2020, the Sussexes announced in a post on Instagram that they were stepping down as senior royals. The author of the book Brothers and Wives: Inside the Private Lives of William, Kate, Harry and Meghan claims Prince Philip went straight to the Queen upon learning of the announcement.
The prince consort is said to have been outraged that Harry and Meghan had not informed the royal family of the announcement in advance.
