After suspending them last April, the Walloon parliament is on the verge of banning overpensions for its parliamentarians – a system allowing deputies to exceed the legal pension ceiling of 20% –, indicated the president of the assembly André Frédéric (PS), Friday, on the sidelines of the Accounting Committee.
“We have requested two legal studies on which we can rely to revamp the text on pensions once and for all. The goal is to establish regulations that no longer authorize these excesses,” he explained.

“We are going to come with a text which will have to be debated in plenary of parliament. We should move forward on the subject in October and November for implementation, ideally, on December 1, or, if this is not possible, on January 1,” detailed the president of the assembly, announcing also the arrival of a financial director in parliament “at the latest at the end of this year”.
