The Road Action Cell (CAR) made up of the Wallonia Regional Crisis Center (CRC-W), the Perex center and the federal road police remains active on Wednesday following the latest weather forecasts.
It is recommended that users remain cautious and vigilant if they have to use the road, especially on the secondary network. Winter showers are expected late Wednesday night and Thursday morning in the provinces of Walloon Brabant and Liège. Snow might also fall locally in the other Walloon provinces.
Negative temperatures tonight
Sabrina Jacobs, weather presenter for RTL INFO, explains: “We expect a small degradation from the seaside with rain showers mixed with melting snow. This system will cross our country during the night. It will bring melting snow to the center of the country and once more a small additional layer of snow on the summits.“The temperatures will be negative everywhere between -1 and -6 degrees.
Faced with this weather situation, vigilance is always reinforced and the situation on the Walloon road network is regularly monitored. However, no measure restricting the movement of heavy goods vehicles over 13 meters was deemed necessary. Motorists are invited to adapt their speed, avoid any sudden manoeuvre, keep a sufficient safety distance from the vehicle in front, provide the necessary equipment (snow tires), check the condition of their vehicle and not overtake the spreaders. The Regional Crisis Center of Wallonia, the Perex center and the federal police recommend finding out regarding traffic conditions on the Walloon network before leaving (//trafiroutes.wallonie.be or //www.inforoutes.be).
