Retrospective up to 12,587 euros for supplementary pensions [πίνακες & παραδείγματα] 2024-07-16 15:16:52

It is estimated that of the approximately 450,000 new pensioners with a supplementary pension from 1/1/2015 onwards, 200,000 come from Funds that had contributions (employee and employer) of more than 6% and are entitled to a retroactive addition to their supplementary pensions.

The top-up and retroactives will be paid following a new recalculation is made for all supplementary pensions issued from 1/1/2015 onwards with contributions above 6%.

The Ministry of Labor and the EFKA have not yet proceeded with the recalculation of supplementary benefits, with the result that tens of thousands of pensioners who paid additional contributions to the supplementary insurance funds have received a smaller supplementary pension than the one they are entitled to, because the increase in the contributions they paid has not been calculated .

The recalculation has been delayed because the software system was not ready at EFKA that would have recalculated hundreds of thousands of supplementary pensions.

It is estimated that the recalculations will begin following the fall, with the goal of being completed by 2025 so that retirees can get the increases they are entitled to.

Based on Law 4387/2016 (Katrougalou Law) and the later 4670/2020 (Vroutsi Law), additional contributions increase the pension with a calculation factor of 0.075% for every 1 unit of additional contribution. However, the provision for the calculation of the increase was applied only to the main pensions issued from 13/5/2016 onwards and is pending for the supplementary pensions issued from 1/1/2015, when the method of their calculation was changed.

The benefit from the extra contributions reaches up to 200 euros or more and is equivalent to a second supplementary pension. The most profitable are the pensioners from auxiliary bank funds who started sending applications to EFKA asking for their auxiliary to be recalculated and to get an increase retroactively.

The issues concern those who retired from 1/1/2015 and received their supplementary pensions with the new calculation system which divides the supplementary into two amounts, one for the insurance years up to 2014 and a second for the insurance years from 2015 onwards .

The increase concerns the supplementary section corresponding to the years up to 2014, since for those years the insured belonged to supplementary funds with supplementary insurance contributions of more than 6%.

The pensioners have already started mobilizing to claim what they are owed from the pending recalculation of their supplementary pensions and are sending applications to ETEAEP with their details and the decision to award their supplementary pension, asking for the pension to be recalculated with the additional contributions they paid and to they are given the increase they are entitled to by law, with the corresponding retroactive effects.

Over 200,000 beneficiaries of increases due to high contributions

Beneficiaries of the increases are pensioners who left from 1/1/2015 onwards and come from supplementary insurance funds that had contributions of more than 6%.

According to estimates, the pensioners who have left following 2015 from Funds with high supplementary insurance contributions are over 200,000, while in total the beneficiaries who will retire in the coming years having paid supplementary insurance contributions of more than 6% are estimated at over 150,000 .

15 auxiliary funds had high contributions, such as PPC, with an auxiliary contribution of 10% instead of 6%, the banks, with an auxiliary contribution of 12.5% instead of 6%, the IKA for the elderly with an auxiliary contribution of 9% instead of 6%, the ERT with an auxiliary contribution of 11% instead of 6%, and other auxiliary funds (Cement, Shipping Agents, Chemicals, etc.).

ATTENTION: The increase concerns the part of the pension corresponding to the insurance years up to 2014 and not the entire amount. For example, a pensioner who left in 2020 with 30 years of supplementary insurance in a Fund with a contribution of 10%, instead of 6%, is entitled to receive the supplement for the years of insurance up to 2014, i.e. for 24 of the 30 years.

To whom does the supplemental pension supplement apply?

The supplementary pension increase applies to those who retire following May 2016 and is calculated at a rate of 0.075%, except that it was not applied to the supplementary pensions, but only to the main pensions and to Funds that had contributions of more than 20%.

The supplemental increase applies to contributions (employee and employer) of more than 6% that the insured had in 15 supplementary funds and who, as long as they have already retired from May 2016 onwards or establish the conditions to receive supplementary from this date and following, they are also entitled to the corresponding increase in their supplementary pension.

WON

Older policyholders who have had higher premiums for a long time gain the most from the increase. Even with 10 years of high contributions they will have a profit in their ancillaries for the insurance years up to 2014.

LOST

Insureds of the last 10 years with a few years up to 2014 in Funds that had a supplementary insurance contribution of more than 6% will have little or no benefit, because the longest period of their insurance is following 2015, when the supplemental increase does not apply due to high contributions.
