Released over a year ago on PC, Re:Touring is now being ported to consoles thanks to Sometimes You. The game is a classic first-person roguelike, but in which you have to interact with different objects to solve a puzzle in order to open a door or power an elevator or an energy beam. In general, the game is very inspired by the game Portal, but if in the latter the puzzles were based on physics, here it is regarding logic and algorithms. Levels are rooms of different sizes with couches where you can sit and get a hint or even a solution. Levels are divided into several types: “Entrance” rooms are single rooms with a door or elevator, or both. To move to the next room, simply press a button and the door or elevator will activate. In the next rooms, following pressing the button, a clock sound will be heard, which means the button is temporarily activated, so you need to solve the puzzles quickly. “Color” rooms are rooms in which there are initially buttons in front of the door or elevator that change color when pressed, and to open the door or activate the elevator you need to do a sequence of 5 colors, which is shown above the door or near the elevator. Later, a machine appears, in which you need to define the algorithm. At first it’s just replacing one color with another, then it’s already 3 colors. The “Direction” rooms are the same as the previous ones, but the machines are more complicated. You need to create an algorithm that will change the colors and choose the direction of the cursor following the step.

The “State” rooms are the same as the previous ones, but the machines are once more more complicated. Different states appeared in it, in fact, it is the same as before, but following each state the machine stops, if the next one is not specified or created, it moves from one state to another. another in turn, in the order defined by the player. The “automation” rooms are the same rooms, but slightly larger and with more complex puzzles, the machine has three states and you have to cycle and change the colors several times, when there should be an algorithm . “Laser” rooms are rooms where the puzzles are a little easier, but they have their own nuances. The basic idea relies on laser beams and a cube that is charged by the beam and stays charged for several seconds, so solving the puzzles becomes a little more difficult. Then there are machines where you have to change color. Finally, there are the “Impulsion” rooms. These are rooms with a machine, that is, puzzles with color changes, but you need to replace all colors with one, and depending on the color the platform will move to the right or the left with pulses, and of course there are lasers with cubes. In general, the gameplay is interesting, but as soon as you get to the levels with automation it is very difficult, however, as described, there are hints, so anyone can succeed. It took us around two and a half hours to complete the game. The game’s graphics are of good quality with well-designed textures. The models are very polygonal and look great. The music isn’t memorable, but it’s a nice ambiance that creates a background. The sound effects are just okay.

VERDICT
Re:Touring is a good game that will make you work on your brain a little. Like most puzzle games, it doesn’t just let the player pass quietly, it constantly tries to increase the difficulty and add something new to the gameplay.
