A story we like: in Saint-Raymond, in the Quebec region, the pillar of the local McDonald’s is retiring following 24 years.
Pierrette Genois cared regarding her job and left a special mark on all those who met her.
In addition to serving thousands of clients, she also trained hundreds of young people entering the job market.
“There are some – when I started – they were very young children. Then there, I greeted them at the front, because I was often at the front, then following that I was driving often, for a long time, then they said to me: “Is that possible!? Since time, are you still here?”, relates Ms. Genois with an amused smile.
At 65, she served her last coffees on Saturday, as she is preparing to retire.
“I had good relationships with customers, some of whom mightn’t wait to come to McDonald’s to see me, just for my smile and my welcome because they said I was going to make their day just with my smile,” she says.
On site since the morning, TVA Nouvelles was able to note that the departure of Ms. Genois is not an easy matter for the restaurant’s regulars, many of whom stopped her, congratulated her and thanked her for her work. .
Pierrette was therefore sincerely touched on Saturday by this wave of love.
“It’s crazy! I don’t understand! I knew I was loved, but not at that point,” she confides, assuring that she is “on cloud nine”.
One thing is certain, Pierrette will be greatly missed by her team, especially as the labor shortage continues to be felt throughout the province.
