Pakistan fast bowler Wahab Riaz on Wednesday announced his retirement from international cricket to focus on T20 leagues around the world. The 38-year-old left-arm pacer has played 27 Tests, 91 ODIs and 36 T20 Internationals between 2008-2020, taking 83, 120 and 34 wickets respectively.
“After an incredible journey, I have decided to retire from international cricket. Big thanks to PCB, my family, coaches, mentors, teammates, fans and everyone who supported me. I look forward to exciting times in the world of franchise cricket. ” he said in a statement posted on social media platform X.
“As I bid farewell to this chapter, I am very happy to embark on a new adventure in franchise cricket and look forward to entertaining and inspiring the audience while competing once morest the best talent in the world,” the fast bowler added.
Riaz became the ninth bowler in Pakistan’s history to take a five-wicket haul on debut, recording figures of 5/63 once morest England at The Oval.
