In France, several aids from the CAF or other paying agencies are there to boost the purchasing power of retirees. These retirement aids then allow them to supplement their retirement.

However, very few know that they can benefit from state pension aid. Photo Reports shows you the complete list of all the rights that pensioners sometimes forget to claim.

Among these retirement aids, the Aspa (Solidarity allowance for the elderly)

The Aspa, formerly minimum old age, is a monthly aid intended retired people with low incomes.
The Aspa is aimed at people aged 65 and over and therefore on low incomes.

So, it is the pension fund (Carsat, MSA, etc.) which therefore pays the Aspa to the beneficiary.

The Aspa is therefore today one of the social aids intended for retirees. This is a pension supplement for retirees living in France.

As of January 1, 2023, the amount of ASPA has increased to 961.08 euros per month for single people. For couples, it is 1,492.08 euros per month.

For the record, the Aspa is not subject to automatic payment. Indeed, you must then make the request to the pension fund on which you depend. This will therefore assess your resources over the past three months.

Simple Social Assistance Allowance

If you do not receive a retirement pension and your Aspa application has been rejectedit is possible to apply for the Simple Social Assistance Allowance for the elderly.

The age and resource conditions for this assistance are the same as for Aspa.

The amount of the Simple Social Assistance Allowance for the elderly depends on the resources of the applicant or the couple. It can thus be paid in full or reduced.

So, you have to apply for it from the Communal social action center of its town hall.

Retirement aid: The minimum contributory

Among the social aids for retirees, the contributory minimum is a device which makes it possible to bring the amount of the basic pension to a minimum for private sector employees, agricultural employees, craftsmen and traders.

As with other social aids, the amount of the minimum contributory may vary depending on the number of terms you have validated.

Two cases are possible:

If you have less than 120 quarters contributed to the general scheme, the amount of the minimum contribution is set at €8,209.62 gross per year, i.e. €684.14 gross per month

– If you have at least 120 assessed quarters or more, this contributory minimum is €8,970.87 gross per year, i.e. €747.57 gross per month

Personalized Autonomy Allowance

You can, under conditions of age and loss of autonomy, obtain the Apa, the personalized autonomy allowance.

Paid by the department to people aged at least 60, the APA is used to pay:

– Expenses necessary to stay at home (Apa at home)

– Either the dependency rate of the medico-social establishment (example: Ehpad) where you live. Its amount depends on the resources of the insured and its level of dependence (maximum of 1,914.04 euros per month for a GIR 1).
The request can be made on the Internet or via a form to be completed. It will then have to be sent to the pension fund or to the departmental council’s autonomy service.

This aid cannot be combined with other aid. Such as the simple allowance for social assistance for the elderly or aid from pension funds.

Retirement aid: Own rights

In France, between 5 and 10% of retirees do not claim the pension in its entirety. This situation mainly concerns people who have worked for a few years in France before moving to another country.

It also concerns people who contributed to a few different plans and forgot they had funds in each of those plans.

To find out if you are entitled to a full pension, check with your pension fund.

The survivor’s pension

Were you married to someone who contributed to their retirement? The survivor’s pension corresponds to part of the retirement pension which the deceased insured person (employee or civil servant) received or might have received.

It is paid, under certain conditions, the surviving spouse (and/or ex-spouse), and orphans (if the deceased was a civil servant).

Thus, available for orphans in certain schemes, from September 1, the new pension reform will include this provision for the general scheme as well.

To know if you are eligible for this pension, you must then approach the pension fund of your late spouse.

Health benefits for retirees

CMU

Assistance with the payment of complementary health insurance makes it possible to financially help people with low resources.

However, these resources must be greater than the ceiling giving entitlement to CMU-C.

This state aid is granted through a check certificate for people over 60 years of age. Thus, the amount of this check is 550 euros.

To know if you can benefit from it and under what conditionsgo to the website of the French public service.

The universal employment-service check

The CESU, the universal employment-service check is an aid that the government grants with the aim of allowing the elderly and pensioners to pay for various services at home for certain works.

It therefore aims to help retirees at home. They can therefore use the CESU to pay all those who offer a service under such conditions.
