Retired teacher accused of raping 6 minors from 1986 to 2010

According to ERT, a 64-year-old retired physical education teacher is accused of raping six minors from 1986 to 2010. The children came of age and filed complaints, the first being a 19-year-old today for whom the statute of limitations has not expired.

20 days ago, a relative of one of the victims accused the 64-year-old now retired teacher, that in 2010 he had raped the now 19-year-old young man when he was only 5 years old.

The prosecutor of Heraklion was informed about the case, who ordered a preliminary investigation by the police. As part of the investigation, a statement was taken from the 19-year-old, who confirmed the complaint and testified that the 64-year-old had abused five more women when they were minors, with the first rape – according to the complaint – occurring in 1986. The women are today 29-48 years old and the defendant is accused of raping them at the age of 5, 6 and 7.

The six people who reported the rape are relatives of the 64-year-old. According to the police, the parents of the then-minor children gave the children to him to look after and he sexually abused them.

The 64-year-old also testified in the case, who did not admit to everything that is being reported, but only that he was unfaithful to some of his relatives.

The police have asked the prosecutors for permission to release the 64-year-old’s details and photos, as there is a possibility that there are other children who have fallen victim to him.
