Retired Fire Captain Saves Pasadena Neighborhood from Devastating Wildfire
PASADENA, Calif. — When the Eaton Fire erupted, threatening homes and lives, retired fire captain Rich Snyder didn’t hesitate. With decades of experience battling wildfires, Snyder knew the stakes were higher than ever. This time, it wasn’t just any neighborhood at risk—it was his own.

Working through the night, Snyder and his impromptu crew managed to save most of the block from complete destruction. While a few homes, including Snyder’s, suffered damage, the neighborhood was largely spared. Reflecting on the ordeal, Snyder humbly credited a higher power. “People keep coming up to me and saying it’s a miracle, ‘Thank you, you did all this. You’re a hero,'” he shared. “This is by the grace of God, this happened.”
Now, as the community begins the long road to recovery, Snyder is grateful for the support of his neighbors. “We are banning together and going through it together,” he said. “To try to go through this on your own, it would be miserable.”
