Retail fuel sales banned by Dakar governor

Governor Al Hassan Sall issued an order stipulating a temporary ban on the sale of retail fuel in the Dakar region, motivated by security considerations.

The note from the Governor of Dakar:

Article 1: For security reasons, the sale of retail fuel is prohibited throughout the territory of the Dakar region from Friday November 17 to Thursday November 30, 2023.

This ban applies in particular to the sale of fuel in containers other than the tanks of vehicles or mopeds.

Article 2: Subject to the provisions of Article 1, the Department Prefects may grant, by way of derogation, the sale of fuel in containers specially provided for this purpose to persons whose professional activities justify it.

Article 3: Any violation of the provisions of this order exposes the offender to the sanctions and penalties provided for by the laws and regulations in force.

Article 4: The Prefects of the departments of Dakar, Guédiawaye, Keur Massar, Pikine and Rufisque, the Central Commissioner of Dakar, Head of the Regional Public Security Service, the Commander of the Gendarmerie Legion of Dakar, are each responsible for this which concerns it, of the execution of this decree, which will be published and communicated wherever necessary
