Djerba-Zarzis International Airport welcomed, on Thursday, a flight from Mitiga airport in Libya, with 97 passengers on board, among politicians, businessmen and representatives of agencies active in the tourism sector.
The resumption of this airline, with an irregular flight which will be operated twice a week, will have a positive impact on tourist activity in the region, underlined the regional commissioner of tourism in Medenine Hichem Mahouachi, noting the importance of the Libyan market as a local market which favors short stays as well as business and medical tourism.
For his part, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Chamber of Tourism in Libya, Mustapha Boubaker Charmit affirmed that the region of Djerba represents a destination of choice for the Libyan market which has more than 700 tourist travel agencies, evoking the possibility of increasing the frequency of the Mitiga flight to Djerba-Zarzis depending on demand.
