The Embassy of the United States in Cuba, which closed its headquarters and halted the processing of consular services due to a power failure, has announced that it will resume its services next week.
When is the US Embassy in Havana open? What procedures can be carried out in your offices? We tell you in this article.
According to the notice published this Friday, the diplomatic headquarters will open at normal hours and consular services will be provided once more starting this Monday, July 17.
Last Thursday, the embassy reported that it would remain closed and service to the public would be suspended “due to an electrical fault.” This situation also affected Friday’s programming, but it seems to be finally resolved.
Until the break, the United States Embassy in Havana provided full consular services to American citizens and some, to a limited extent, to Cubans.
Services to US citizens: consular passports, reports of birth abroad, notarial, visa labeling. Immigrant Visas: immediate family, family preference, fiancé(e). Non-immigrant visas: routine (not available), emergency (limited service).
At the moment, the date of full opening of visa services at the US Embassy in Cuba is unknown.
US Embassy in Cuba: PAROLE
The diplomatic headquarters is publishing also several messages to help humanitarian parole applicants to avoid making mistakes during their application to the program established by the Biden government last January.
Recently, they notified regarding an error that can delay the departure from Cuba of the beneficiaries of the parole.
“During the humanitarian parole application process, you must enter a form for each petitioner, but you must include minors in the form of the parent or legal guardian, so you will prevent a minor from receiving their travel authorization and not you. , or vice versa. This only delays your departure from the country,” they explained.
