The construction project located at Place de Brouckère should resume at the end of August following a forced stoppage due to legal action, according to information gathered by the RTBF. The developers have seen their planning permission granted following having made modifications to the initial project, thus responding to the criticisms of the Council of State concerning the preservation of heritage.

The objective of the project? Demolish and rebuild the headquarters of the insurer Allianz. This project will give birth to a new urban complex which will include 176 housing units, 129 student accommodation, 10,000 square meters of offices and finally, 3,000 square meters of shops.

According to Griet Trekels, Development Manager at BBPI Real Estate, the demolition work will take around five to six months. Once the permit is enforceable and final, construction will begin in January 2024 and is expected to last three years.
