As no candidate succeeded, as has happened in Colombia in the last three presidential elections, the Constitution orders that “a new vote will be held three weeks later, in which only the two candidates who have obtained the highest will participate. votes”.

This time, the second round is scheduled for Sunday, June 19. In these elections, the person who obtains the highest number of votes will be declared President.

The constitution says that in the event of the death or permanent physical disability of one of the two candidates with the majority of votes, their party or political movement may register a new candidate for the second round.

“If he does not do so or if the absence is due to another cause, the person who obtained the third vote will replace him; and so on successively and in descending order. If the absence occurs less than two weeks before the second round, it will be postponed for fifteen days. Read the full article here.
