Reinforcing the success of MaPrimeRénov’

MaPrimeRénov’, what is it? Set up in 2020, this public aid was intended to replace the energy transition tax credit (CITE) and was primarily reserved for low-income and intermediate households. In 2021, the beneficiary audience has expanded to reach the most affluent taxpayers, landlords and condominiums. To collect this premium, the income of the household, its location and the work undertaken will be taken into account and analyzed in order to determine the amount to be collected. After noting the success of MaPrimeRénov’ in 2021, new measures had to be taken for 2022. While the National Housing Agency (Anah) intends to distribute 685,000 bonuses for this new year, the government has announced a budget 2 billion euros to meet this objective. The ambition is clear: to encourage owners as much as possible in their renovation projects. Thanks to a new public service for energy renovation, owners will be able to get in touch with advisers – online or directly at counters – able to provide recommendations on a case-by-case basis, whether on craftsmen, on work in themselves, or on the steps to be taken to benefit from the bonuses.

The new grant conditions

In 2022, many changes are expected. First of all, the Habiter Mieux Sérénité scheme reserved for the most modest households who wish to carry out renovations is now becoming a variation of MaPrimeRénov’ and will be conditional on an energy gain of at least 35%. Also, while in 2021 MaPrimeRénov’ was dedicated only to housing completed more than 2 years ago, in 2022 the seniority threshold increases to 15 years. In other words, if your accommodation is less than 15 years old, it is no longer possible to hope to obtain the bonus. The only exception: if you want to replace an oil-fired boiler. In this case only, you will be able to receive the bonus if your accommodation is more than 2 years old and if you request the removal of your fuel tank. Otherwise, to receive MaPrimeRénov’, you will have to agree to occupy the accommodation in question as your main residence, within one year – and no longer 6 months, as in 2021 – following having received the bonus. You will have to occupy it at least 8 months a year, compared to 6 months in 2021. Finally, good news! You are given flexibility to finish your work and you must commit to finishing it within 2 years, compared to 1 year last year. The National Housing Agency may, if necessary, grant an extension if the work is not finished within the 2 years indicated.
