The decrease in wild boar populations in certain areas of Wallonia following significant samples taken since 2019; a hot and sunny month of October which kept the animals in the woods or a very late fall of leaves making it difficult to see the animals explain why the objectives were not achieved, explains the minister.

For the coming season, the shooting plan on a voluntary basis is set at 23,481 wild boars, adds Borsus, recalling the establishment of the new ChasseOnWeb platform which allows hunting right holders to complete the various forms online, including the declaration of samples.

”Since 2019, wild boar shooting plans on a voluntary basis have allowed us to fight once morest the expansion of wild boar and to shoot 91,915 but I observe that there are still far too many. The harvest must therefore be massive during this hunting season,” continues Willy Borsus.

The latter finally indicates having tabled two texts on the government table relating to the establishment of new provisions regarding the destruction of wild boars and the revision of the feeding regulations. “All these measures added together should contribute to significantly improving the situation,” concludes the minister.
