The sculpture by Gaston Lagaffe located on Place Verte in Charleroi found its head on Wednesday following the intervention of a sculptor. The item in question had been stolen a few months ago before being found by the police in a field located in Gerpinnes.
The head of the cartoon character was reattached on Wednesday thanks to a reinforced device made necessary by the repetition of acts of vandalism once morest the sculpture. Indeed, the head is not the only element to have already been damaged. The windshield and steering wheel of Gaston Lagaffe’s car have already been damaged as well.
When the head was stolen, the City of Charleroi decided to file a complaint. On Wednesday, she indicated her willingness to take stricter measures if further acts of vandalism were to take place once morest the sculpture.
