Unfortunately for the sector, the drop in purchasing power is felt on a daily basis in our catering establishments.
The clientele is becoming increasingly rare in restaurants and more and more of us prefer meals in a snack bar, a less expensive fast-food establishment. The managers of these establishments have recorded an increase in attendance of around 25% and this is particularly the case for Nicolas, who runs the “Snack de l’artisan” in Spy.
“We are regarding 25% more than last year. Sunday noon, we do twice as much as before: last year, Sunday noon was still a small service, but now, we fill the establishment“, he notes.”We notice that we have an increase in attendance, but especially “on site”: people come to eat here, at the chip shop, since we offer dumplings, vol-au-vent, etc.“
The reasons are simple: financially, the note will be much lower. “Here, people have to order at the bar, have to pick up their tray… which means they will definitely feel a 30% difference. A dish that is served at 20 or 22 euros in a restaurant will be served here at 14 euros“, analyzes the manager.
