VAT is 10% in catering. In supermarkets, it is 5.5% for the vast majority of food products. By prohibiting until now to pay for all shopping with restaurant vouchers, the State was a joy for restaurateurs but also protected its finances by favoring VAT at 10% rather than 5.5%.
